When the FetalMetrics.com Website Should Not Be Used

Who Should Not Use This Website

There are a number of conditions that should be considered contraindications to the use of ultrasonographic fetal biometric measurements for the purpose of estimating fetal weight. While these conditions are not common, they indicate that there may be additional factors that may influence fetal weight that cannot be accounted for by using the standard ultrasonographic fetal measurements and the associated ultrasound fetal weight estimation equations. If you or your fetus have (or if you think that you or your fetus might have) any of these conditions, YOU SHOULD NOT USE THIS WEBSITE. Among these conditions are the following:

Contraindications to Use of FetalMetrics.com for Estimating Fetal Weight

a. A multiple gestation (e.g., twins, triplets, or a higher order pregnancy)
b. A known or suspected fetal anomaly
c. A known or suspected congenital syndrome
d. A known or suspected chromosomal abnormality (e.g., Down’s syndrome)
e. An Rh factor incompatibility between the mother and her fetus
f. A major antigen incompatibility between a mother and her fetus
g. Known or suspected hydrops fetalis
h. Oligohydramnios

If you or your fetus have – or are suspected to have – any of these conditions, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS WEBSITE for the ultrasonographic estimation of fetal weight. The results will not be accurate given your special circumstances.

IF YOU HAVE (OR ARE SUSPECTED TO HAVE) ANY OF THE ABOVE-LISTED CONDITIONS, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS WEBSITE FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTIMATING FETAL WEIGHT

Limitations for Use

This system is designed for use only by women who DO NOT HAVE any of the above-listed conditions that are listed under items (a)-(h), as well as a number of other rare abnormal conditions that might affect their pregnancy. This system WILL NOT be able to provide you with an accurate ultrasonographic estimate of fetal weight if you or your fetus have (or if you suspect that you or your fetus might have) any of these preceding conditions, as well as a number of other uncommon medical conditions that can affect fetal weight. If you or your fetus have (or if you suspect that you or your fetus might have) any of these above-listed conditions as well as any others that might influence the reliability of ultrasonographic measurements of fetal size, please exit now and DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS WEBSITE. The ultrasonographic estimation of fetal weight under these circumstances is beyond the scope of applicability of the ultrasonographic fetal weight estimation equations that are used by this website, and the RESULTS WILL NOT BE ACCURATE.
